Kids clock
A big, friendly teaching clock for children. The hours are huge and red to match the short red hour hand; the long minute hand is blue, and you can add the minutes (5, 10, 15 …) round the edge in blue to match.
Underneath, the time is written the way kids learn to say it — “quarter past three”, “ten to four” — with the digital time below. Put it on a classroom projector or a tablet in the bedroom, and turn any of the helpers off as your child gets more confident.

Questions
- How do I teach my child to tell time?
- Start with the short hour hand and o’clock times, then half past and quarter past and to. Once those click, count the minutes round the edge in fives (turn on “Minute numbers” to help). The colours on this clock match each hand to its numbers to make that easier.
- Can I hide the seconds hand?
- Yes. Turn off “Show seconds” under Customise → All clocks; the minute hand then moves in whole-minute steps that always match the words.
